Welcome to the weekly newsletter of the Michigan Energy Innovation Business Council (Michigan EIBC), the business voice for advanced energy in Michigan. Here’s what’s new this week:
New Report on Rural Siting in Michigan

Landowners in rural Michigan want the right to host energy projects, a new report by Evergreen Action and Private Property Rights Institute finds. According to the report, which includes case studies of farmers and local officials, energy leasing can oftentimes keep family farms alive but restrictive zoning laws stemming from misinformation about renewable energy projects makes it difficult.
The report recommends continued support for and implementation of Public Act 233, which encourages local governments to adopt Compatible Renewable Energy Ordinances that meet state criteria and creates a state-level permitting process for renewable projects.
EIBC Volunteers at Greater Lansing Food Bank
The Michigan EIBC team volunteered at the Greater Lansing Food Bank a couple weeks ago! Attendees of our 13th Annual Michigan Energy Innovators Conference chose GLFB to receive a portion of the event proceeds. We were proud to partner with them again and provide hands-on support for their mission. GLFB has been leading mid-Michigan’s fight against hunger since 1981.
