EGLE Awards $7.9 Million in Solar for Savings Grants

The Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy this week awarded $7.9 million to eight awardees in the first round of the Solar for Savings grant opportunity. The grantees will create the first MI Solar for All pilot programs, deploying solar energy to low-income and disadvantaged communities across Michigan. The projects include residential rooftop solar and residential-serving community solar projects, from Wayne County to Benton Harbor to the entire Upper Peninsula.
Applications for the third round of Solar for Savings funding are open until Sept. 30 at 5 p.m.
Michigan EIBC Submits Comments on Reliability Plus Initiative
Michigan EIBC and Advanced Energy United recently submitted comments in the second phase of Michigan Public Service Commission’s “Reliability Plus” initiative (U-21400). The initiative aims to strengthen the power grid and streamline interconnection from distributed energy resources (DERs), with phase II focused on addressing challenges to the grid’s ability to accommodate DERs. Michigan EIBC provided initialand reply comments on five areas: DER interconnection, customer data access and hosting capacity, DER aggregation and non-wires alternatives, 4.8 kilovolt conversions, and advanced metering infrastructure and grid modernization.
