Newsletter: Whitmer’s Last State of the State, and more

Welcome to the weekly newsletter of the Michigan Energy Innovation Business Council (Michigan EIBC), the business voice for advanced energy in Michigan. Here’s what’s new this week:

Gov. Whitmer Delivers Her Last State of the State

Source: Michigan Executive Office of the Governor

In her last State of the State, Gov. Whitmer celebrated her wins over the last seven years, including the clean energy laws. In her remarks, she said, “We’re producing more clean, reliable energy from wind, solar, nuclear, and hydrogen to protect our planet and power everyone’s homes.”

The bulk of her speech focused on three main priorities for the next 10 months: education, housing, and healthcare. These priorities mirror the proposals in her executive budget released two weeks ago. She also criticized tariff policy several times, arguing that it was raising prices and hurting businesses.

She closed with a mic drop moment, saying, “Big Gretch out!”
